O Rosto de Cristo

Sempre que eu leio a história de Cristo

Whenever I read the story of Christ

Eu fico a pensar com grande emoção

I find myself thinking with great emotion

No privilégio que muitos tiveram

About the privilege that many had

De ver o Seu rosto, sentir Sua mão

To see His face, feel His hand

Eu também queria a mesma alegria

I also wanted the same joy

De vê-Lo bem perto, bem junto a mim

To see Him up close, right next to me

E olhar os Seus olhos, serenos e meigos

And look into His eyes, serene and gentle

E como eu seria tão feliz assim

And how happy I would be like that

Queria saber como era o Seu rosto

I wanted to know what His face was like

Embora eu sinta que era mui lindo

Although I feel it was very beautiful

Inspirava fé e também confiança

Inspiring faith and also trust

E dava a todos um gozo infindo

And giving everyone endless joy

E ao ver as gravuras, os quadros pintados

And seeing the engravings, the painted pictures

Daquilo que dizem ser o meu Senhor

Of what they say is my Lord

Meu ser não aceita o que está na tela

My being does not accept what is on the canvas

É falsa a inspiração do Pintor

The painter's inspiration is false

Cheio de amargura, semblante de dor

Eu creio num Cristo de rosto alegre
