Eu sinto no meu peito uma forte emoção

I feel a strong emotion in my chest

When I read about the martyrdom of Jesus

Às vezes fecho os olhos e posso ver

Sometimes I close my eyes and can see

O sofrimento dele carregando a cruz

His suffering carrying the cross

Sangue e suor corriam do seu rosto

Blood and sweat ran from his face

E o carrasco açoitava o seu corpo

And the executioner whipped his body

O povo escarnecia do rei que foi rejeitado

The people mocked the rejected king

Que na cruz para morrer foi condenado

Who was condemned to die on the cross

Eu posso imaginar a dor que sentiu

I can imagine the pain he felt

Quando a coroa de espinhos o cravou

When the crown of thorns pierced him

Assim mesmo com ternura consolava

Still, with tenderness, he comforted

Aqueles que por ele ali choravam

Those who cried for him there

Rastro de sangue por onde passou Jesus

Trail of blood where Jesus passed

Refletia em cada vida o seu amor

Reflected his love in every life

Hoje essa história comove meu coração

Today, this story moves my heart

Em saber que esse martírio foi por mim

To know that this martyrdom was for me

E por fim crucificaram a Jesus

And finally, they crucified Jesus

Entre dois ladrões puseram meu senhor

Between two thieves, they placed my Lord

Tendo sede pediu água, alguém lhe deu

Thirsty, he asked for water, someone gave him

Uma esponja com vinagre ele bebeu

He drank a sponge with vinegar

Então o seu espírito ao pai ele entregou

Then he gave his spirit to the Father

Inclinando a cabeça expirou

Bowing his head, he breathed his last

Uma lança traspassou o corpo de Jesus

A spear pierced the body of Jesus

Sangue e água então derramou

Blood and water then poured out

A terra estremeceu, sepulcros se abriram

The earth trembled, tombs opened

As potências dos céus foram abaladas

The powers of heaven were shaken

O tempo logo mudou, fortes ventos sopraram

Time quickly changed, strong winds blew

Raios e trovões anunciaram

Lightning and thunder announced

Que quem ali morreu foi o filho de Deus!

That the one who died there was the Son of God!
